The fall Fix ‘n’ Clean event will be taking place on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 5 and 6, which will see Queen’s University students sent out across Kingston to perform cleaning and basic repairs in the homes of seniors or those disabled.
The Engineering Society this year has added a new service — technology understanding — which will see students help set up computers and teach homeowners how to use them.
Other work could include yard work, gardening, painting, moving furniture, window cleaning, installing/uninstalling air conditioning units or any other simple service the resident may request.
People are expected to get between three and six volunteers sent to their homes for a two-to-four-hour period.
Any task can be performed as long as the volunteers are able to perform it.
The service is free.
To request students to go to their homes, people can either email email@example.com or call 613-533-6008.
People are asked to leave a name, address, email or phone number so the society can reach them, and a list of chores they would like performed.
