A transport truck driver from Cambridge was charged under the Highway Traffic Act after Ontario Provincial Police say he caused a collision that closed one lane of Highway 401 for nearly two hours on Thursday evening.
The collision took place in the westbound lanes at about 8:20 p.m. near Tyendinaga Township. The OPP said in a news release that traffic was moving west when it came to a stop for an unspecified reason. When it did, a transport truck collided with a vehicle in front of it, which caused that vehicle to collide with a third in front of it.
One of the drivers received minor injuries and was transported to hospital by paramedics.
The OPP have charged 27-year-old Sandeep Shori, of Cambridge, with following to closely in a commercial vehicle.
The left lane of Highway 401 westbound was closed for just under two hours and is now open.
