The CFL is expected to announce on Thursday that the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Argonauts are to play a regular-season game in Halifax on July 25.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders are expected to touch down in Halifax for a CFL regular-season game versus the Toronto Argonauts on July 25.
The CFL is holding a media conference in Halifax on Thursday, at which time the league will formally announce the game between the Riders and Argonauts. TSN’s Dave Naylor first reported the news, which the Leader-Post has confirmed.
CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie and representatives from the Roughriders and Argonauts are expected be hand for the announcement.
Moncton played host to a regular-season game between the Argonauts and Montreal Alouettes in 2019. Moncton has been the site of four CFL games since 2010.
The CFL hasn’t visited Halifax since 2005, when a pre-season game was staged between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Argonauts. The game between the Riders and Argonauts is expected to be played at Saint Mary’s University.
Meanwhile, the Roughriders announced Wednesday that defensive end A.C. Leonard has signed to a two-year contract extension. In 2019, Leonard had 44 defensive tackles, nine sacks and 10 tackles for a loss.
