Kingston wrestlers claim medals

The Kingston Wrestling Club sent five wrestlers to the Canada East Youth Wrestling Festival in Orillia and all came back with medals from the May 10-12 event.

Capturing gold medals in their respective age groups and weight classes were Eden Howes in under-12 girls, 29 kg; William Mcfarlane in under-12 boys, 68 kg; and Annie Niemann in under-nine girls, 32 kg.

Silver medals were won by Luke Coffin in under-14 boys, 74 kg, and Sophia Diaz in under-nine girls, 28 kg.

Two weeks earlier at the Ontario Youth Wrestling Festival in Ottawa, eight Kingston wrestlers gained either gold or silver medals.

Golds were won by Coffin in under-14 boys, 74 kg; Mcfarlane in under-12 boys, 68 kg; Annie Niemann in under-nine girls, 33 kg; Grady Howes in under-seven boys, 24 kg; and Ainslie Niemann in under-seven girls, 28 kg. Silver medallists were Zack Pascoal in under-14 boys, 55 kg; Eden Howes in under-12 girls, 29 kg; and Diaz in under-nine girls, 28 kg.
